Established in 1442, the Mohren Apotheke is Nuremberg's oldest pharmacy. The Bouhon family aquired the pharmacy in 1938 and owns it to this day. In 1966 pharmacist Walter Bouhon developed a massage oil preventing pregnancy stripes and sold it in the Mohren pharmacy.

Walter started his own Frei brand. In the 1980s Frei was the first skin care manufacturer to add higher concentrations of vitamins A and E to skin care products. Studies at the Univerisity of Pennsylvania showed a skin renewing process after the application of frei products.
